I guess there are 26 pocketships now. From finished to early stages.

Here are some pictures on my first sailboat, "Raema 1" I have just updated the list of blogs that I am following where other pocketships are being built! I am waiting for the Ash to arrive for my floors that I hope to work on next week. I am epoxying all the pine into place in the cockpit for the acceptance of the footwell, etc.

Still Fiberglassing!!!!!

This fiberglassing is very time consuming. I have 10 out of the main 14 inside panels done now. This has been about 10 hrs of work. Here are some pics of my latest trip to Mystic CT.

Started Fiberglassing!!

Finished pulling out all the wire stitches. I made the mistake of embedding them in too much epoxy in the welds, even after reading on other blogs to avoid this. It is hard to reduce the amount of epoxy you are applying. Anyway, I have also sanded all the fillets at least to what I feel is satisfactory. Last night applied the first section of fiberglass. I am hoping in the coming weeks to really start putting some time into this project :)

Rudder Work

Milled the pieces for the rudder and glued them up. The dimensions are supposed to be from 1 1/2" on the leading edge to 3/4" on the trailing edge. I used a hand planer to mill down the pine blocking, and then a grinder and orbital sander. The finished dimension is from 1 1/2" to 1". I don't think this will make any significant difference in it's operation.

Still too cold for epoxy work

Working on the rudder a little while I wait for warmer weather. My boys were helping this day :)
Storm Day. Did some marking and then got the wood stove going in the shed to heat it up. Working on the bow stitching. Hard to get it to match right. Also started the rudder. Found out that the plans from CLC have the scale wrong on this page for the rudder plans. It says the scale is 3" to 1". It should be 4" to 1". Running out of room in my shed!
